As the holiday season approaches, there’s so much to look forward to. Many people spend time with loved ones, enjoy festive activities, and fill their homes with the smells of cooking and baking. Classic Christmas dishes, like gingerbread, candy canes, peppermint bark, and countless treats from different cultures, bring extra joy to the season. Below are three delicious recipes to help you get into the holiday spirit!

Starting off with classic Christmas sugar cookies, this recipe makes a total of 48 cookies and requires 3 ¾ cups of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of baking powder, ½

ree

teaspoon of salt, 1 ½ cups of white sugar, 1 cup of butter or margarine softened, 2 large eggs, and 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract. First, sift the flour, salt, and baking powder in a medium bowl and set it aside. Then, beat the sugar and butter together in a large bowl until the texture is smooth. Next, beat the 2 eggs and vanilla extract into the butter mixture and add the flour mixture after. Beat until the dough has formed, then chill it in the refrigerator for 2 hours. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and grease two baking sheets. Roll out the dough onto a surface with flour, cut out shapes using Christmas cookie cutters, and place on baking sheets. Bake until golden for about 6-8 minutes, and let it cool down before frosting and enjoying!

Next is a very tasty and easy treat to make- Christmas rocky road! You’ll need

ree

chocolate, marshmallows, nuts of your choice, and optional green and red M&Ms for festivity. First, crush the chocolate into a large bowl and melt for about 1.5 to 2 minutes in the microwave in 30 second intervals until nearly melted. After, add all your mix-ins to the nearly melted chocolate and fold with a spatula until everything is mixed in and covered in chocolate. Place on a baking sheet and put into the fridge or freezer for about half an hour. Cut into pieces with a sharp knife and serve!

The last recipe is an extremely quick and easy Christmas salad that serves 8 people. It

ree

contains 1 ½ cups of pecans, 8 ounces of dried cherries, 1 ½ (16 ounce) bags of mixed salad greens, ¼ pound of Parmesan cheese (shaved), and ½ cup balsamic vinaigrette salad dressing. All you need to do is mix all the ingredients together, drizzle the vinaigrette over the salad and enjoy with all your favorite people!

Hopefully you are able to try at least one of these scrumptious recipes during this holiday season!
