9th Grade Field Day

On September 29, 2025, the 9th grade class had Field Day. This day was filled with laughter and joy, but most importantly, it fostered friendships between those who are new

to ND. After homeroom, the 9th graders arrived at the Dolan Center and were split into 8 different groups, each led by 1-2 seniors. The groups were labeled in different colors (pink, red, royal blue, sky blue, black, purple, white, green) and they gave out color coded bandanas. Each team then participated in a series of games which included trivia, a pizza box game, “Olympics,” an outstanding fashion show, and many more.

The trivia consisted of a series of questions about the school, geography, shows, and a few other topics. Next was the pizza box game; the challenge was to try to make the opposing team drop their pizza box while maintaining your own box with one hand. After a few other games were played in the Dolan Center, students went to the outdoor basketball courts across from ND where the next series of games called the “Olympics,” were set up. Each team selected their best players for each game. 

My personal favorite competition of the day was the fashion show. For this competition, each team was given scrap paper, scissors, markers, and tape. Each team got creative and made an outfit for their leading senior(s). The energy and hard work in the room was very impressive! Students were making hats, jewelry, dresses, pants, tops, sunglasses, bags, bows, other decorations, and even fake money. The groups even chose a song that went with their senior(s)’s costume. Watching the seniors perform the fashion show and seeing our hard work pay off was so much fun. I think one of the best performances and costumes exhibited was the white team’s. They recreated Soulja Boy! Once the fashion show ended, the students walked to Manhattan Beach for lunch with an absolutely stunning view!  

When lunch was over, the students walked back to ND and the winners were

announced. Drum roll, please!… sky blue won first place, black won second place, and finally, the two teams who tied for third place were royal blue and pink! Each of the 3 winning teams got a dress down day. In addition to that, first place won a pizza party, second place won donuts, and last but not least, third place won ring pops! Even though my team didn’t win, I truly enjoyed 9th grade field day, and I’m sure that everyone else there did as well.
