Being a high school student can be very stressful. The amount of work, responsibility, and exams can be overwhelming and a lot to keep track of. However, being a high school student also means learning new strategies to become more efficient at work and learning new ways to succeed in school. Going to a school in New York City is a huge advantage. Having such a big city to explore means there are tons of places to study and get work done. Here are a list of study spots that I recommend:
#1 - Starbucks
Starbucks is a super popular and great study spot. Not only do they have delicious drinks and food items to try, but they're also all over the city meaning they're super accessible to pretty much any neighborhood. There are three great Starbucks cafes no further than a five minute walk from Notre Dame.
#2 - Stephen A. Schwarzman Building - The NY Public Library
For anyone who prefers more quiet and calm environments, this public library is

perfect. The Stephen A. Schwarzman Building is the biggest library in New York City. It is huge, with many places to sit and work, along with a beautiful interior. It is free of charge and has restrooms available for use. This library is only 15-25 minutes away from Notre Dame and easy to get to whether by car, subway, or bus.
#3 - The Steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art
Although a little less traditional, this iconic location may be a good fit for some students. Similar to what the characters in Gossip Girl do, this iconic location can be a crowded, but fun spot to do work at if you like the busyness of New York City. A plus side is that the museum is “pay-what-you-wish” for New York State residents, and is a super cool museum with a huge variety of artworks. This museum is a little further, but still easy to get to, and is about 35-40 minutes away from school.
#4 - St. George Coffee
Made famous on social media for being the “Brandy Melville Cafe,” this cafe has amazing sandwiches, pastries, and drinks along with also being the perfect place to study and get work done. This coffee shop has both an upstairs and downstairs meaning there are usually open seats and is also relatively quiet. St. George Coffee is only about a 15 minute walk from school, and quicker if you take the train or bus. As a plus – they also sell cute merchandise from their cafe that you can find in Brandy Melville!
