Aloha Market

By Mikaila Rivas '26

The Aloha Market was a three-day pop-up shopping experience in SoHo, New York City that ran from April 26th to the 28th. The market included products from numerous Hawaii-based food and wellness brands, such as Big Island Coffee Roasters and Hawaiian Rainforest Naturals. The pop-up also hosted immersive events, like lei crafting and cooking demonstrations. Admission was free, but a few of the events required a paid ticket.

I chose to attend the last day of the Aloha Market on Sunday, which I very much enjoyed.  The market consisted of two floors with enough space for attendees to move around comfortably. There were many free tastings of delicious Hawaiian snacks. One of my favorites was Maui Crisps and their Hawaiian Chili flavor. The crisps were tasty and powerful in flavor, without a certain aftertaste that comes with many chips. I also loved the sweet Hawaiian Host chocolate-covered macadamia nuts. Additionally, I tested fragrances and lotions from UA Body, which smelled fruity and perfect for the summer and were not too overbearing in scent.

I spent around an hour at the pop-up and enjoyed testing all the well-made merchandise and talking to the entrepreneurs of the products. This was the first Aloha Market in New York, and I hope there will be more in the future.
