The Met Gala: The Garden Of Time

By Sienna Estrella '26

The famous annual Met Gala occurred on May 6th where celebrities partook in the jubilee to show off their elaborate outfits. The Met Gala took place in its usual spot, The Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC, and was attended by celebrities ranging from film stars, athletes, social media influencers, musicians, and other public figures. The Met Gala is meant for a night of fun: eating dinner, dressing up to the theme, socializing, and exploring the various exhibits of the museum, along with offering time for celebrities to answer long anticipated questions by their fans. This year's theme was “The Garden Of Time,” which is based on a  J.G. Ballard story about a count who cuts a rose from his garden in order to slow down time, until there are no remaining flowers. This correlates with this year's exhibit, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” which symbolizes how technology can bring life back into old garments, so they can be worn again.

Some of the celebrities who attended were Zendaya, Bad Bunny, Lana Del Ray, Ariana Grande, Sabrina Carpenter, and Stray Kids, the first K-pop group to attend the Met Gala. Not only was it Ariana Grande's first time at the Met Gala since 2018, but she also performed for the Mets' surprise musical production. Grande performed her hit singles; “7 Rings,” “Into You,” "We can't be friends,” “The boy is mine,” and others, including a cover of “When You Believe” with Costar Cynthia Erivo.

Celebrities wore designers such as Givenchy, Madison Margiela, Oscar de la Renta and Loewe. Overall the night was full with intricate fashion, socialization, and cheer.
