Singer and songwriter Gracie Abrams has risen to popularity from her recent
album, The Secret of Us, which features popstar Taylor Swift on the song “Us.” Abrams has been on the rise since she opened for Swift alongside Phoebe Bridgers and other artists during the Eras Tour. Gracie Abrams has been making music and going on tour since her first single, “Mean It” in 2019 and her first tour in 2021. She’s been to major cities like New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles and has performed at many venues of various sizes. So, what were all of her tours like before her current, The Secret of Us tour?
Her first US tour was in fall of 2021, and she performed in smaller venues in the Mercury Lounge, here in New York City, and the Constellation Room in Santa Ana, California. She performed in New York on September 21st and 22nd with a crowd capacity of 250. This was the first time I saw Gracie Abrams live, and it was truly astounding to hear her sing. She has such a profound stage presence and was easily able to connect with the crowd. It was so inspiring to see her perform for the first time just as she was starting her career. She had a unique connection with the crowd, and it was truly one of the most memorable shows I’ve ever been to. She sang hits like “I Miss You, I’m Sorry” and “21” and also a yet to be released song, “Breaking Me Down.”
Her next tour, This Is What It Feels Like, was in the winter of 2022, and she performed here in NYC at the Bowery Ballroom. This was a Valentine's Day show and was even more
special. During this show, she had a VIP ticket, where fans were able to get early entry into the venue and be present during her sound check. Abrams came out and interacted with the audience and also sang a few songs, including a cover of “Scott Street” by Phoebe Bridgers. During this tour, I had the opportunity to meet Gracie during the sound check and it was such a surreal experience. Seeing her with a crowd of about 20 people was an extraordinary moment that I will never forget. Every fan in the audience could tell how grateful Abrams felt to be able to play for all of us. She then went on to perform in front of the sold out venue, and her stage presence was unmatched. During her actual show performances, she sang songs like “Feels Like,” “Rockland,” and “Camden.”
After putting out her first Album, “Good Riddance,” she went on another tour.
This tour was in March of 2023 and she performed at Irving Plaza. This was the last tour of smaller venues, and it was the best one yet. Seeing her perform with crowds of hundreds of people all singing their hearts out was a dreamlike feeling. The atmosphere that Abrams is able to create in all of her concerts is unmatchable. Gracie Abrams is able to make all of her concerts feel like home, and she is able to create the most comforting environment for everyone. Her stage performance is inimitable and she is truly an extraordinary performer. Abrams is able to relate to every single one of her fans in an indescribable way. She makes everyone feel like they belong and as if their feelings are heard by her. Gracie Abrams has come a long way since 2021 because of the deep-rooted love she has for her fans.
