Looking for the perfect snickerdoodle recipe to fill your kitchen with scents of cinnamon and nutmeg or a decadent pumpkin cream cheese muffin to go with your halloween movie marathon? This list of appetizing treats is perfect for any cozy Autumn night!
1.The Classic Pumpkin Pie
The famous pumpkin pie embodies all things Fall-like, from its in-season
pumpkins, warm rustic flavors and its continual celebration all the way through Thanksgiving. Its origins date back to the first settlements of America, where stewed pumpkin was poured into shells of honey and spices. Now, the internet is littered with pumpkin pie recipes that usually detail the combination of pumpkin puree, milk, eggs, and sugar, along with a plethora of spices such as nutmeg, ginger, allspice, and cloves. Once combined, the concoction is baked in a doughy crust for around 45 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit, leaving you with the iconic pumpkin pie.
2. Snickerdoodle Cookies
Compared to the traditional pumpkin pie, the snickerdoodle is not directly
associated with the fall season. However, this delicious sugar cookie is the perfect blend of cozy spices, such as cinnamon and nutmeg, that leave a fall festival in your mouth. Baked at 350 degrees for roughly 14 minutes, the buttery dough turns into a fall treat when it is coated in cinnamon sugar. Snickerdoodle cookies are truly delicious and perfect to share with friends and family!
3. Brown Sugar French Toast
This next treat is an autumn twist on French toast, blending the nostalgic breakfast with aromatic flavors of fall. This recipe uses the regular French toast method but includes ingredients such as cinnamon, nutmeg, orange zest, vanilla, and the star of the show, brown sugar. This unique treat can be eaten for breakfast or dessert and is phenomenal when paired with ice cream or a hot cup of tea.
4. Pumpkin Banana Bread
Another great fall twist on a common treat is pumpkin banana bread, which
incorporates notes of maple syrup and pumpkin puree. The delectable recipe uses over ripe bananas, cinnamon, vanilla and dark brown sugar to create the dense pound cake like bread and is topped with a delicious maple glaze. Pumpkin banana bread is the perfect treat for this cheerful season.
5. Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffins
These Pumpkin Cream Cheese muffins are a tasty blend of savory and sweet
and are great for on-the-go breakfasts. Once you make the muffin and cream cheese batters, stack tablespoons of each batter into your muffin tins, alternating between the two before baking twice at different temperatures, depending on the recipe.
6. Apple Cinnamon Donuts
Once the leaves begin falling from the trees, this last treat appears in farmers
markets and grocery store aisles to celebrate fall with us. Although it is the only apple dessert on this list, apple cinnamon donuts practically epitomize this season and recall memories of apple orchids and cozy afternoons. Make your batter using buttermilk, sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and grated apple before piping it in circular motions into a pan full of hot oil. Once fully cooked, remove and coat with cinnamon sugar. These delicious treats are the perfect way to get into the fall spirit.
