By: Kaitlyn Owens '25

It is finally time for the most festive and spookiest time of the year where everyone dresses up! There is no more waiting for trick or treating and almost everyone is spending time with friends and family! New York City contains so many fun events for all ages so everyone can have an amazing holiday.

In Greenwich Village, there is The Village Halloween Parade, where more than 50,000 zombies, ghouls, witches, monsters, robots, Jedis, giant puppets and more take to the streets for a night of costumed festivities that you definitely don't want to miss. Another great event is the

Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze located in the Hudson Valley at Van Cortlandt Manor in Croton-on-Hudson. It includes thousands of hand-carved jack o'lanterns set up on elaborate displays. They are placed along the Statue of Liberty and the Pumpkin Planetarium, where there is a circus sideshow. There is even a jack lantern tribute to Day of the Dead and the country's first Pumpkin Ferris wheel in Hudson Valley.

Another fun event is the Fall Festival at the Bronx Zoo which showcases more than 5,000 animal-themed carved pumpkins in a jack-o’-lantern trail that stretches over half a mile. The all-ages Pumpkin Nights will also feature live pumpkin carving demonstrations, games, festive fall treats and food trucks. If you are a big fan of watching movies, there is also the Rooftop Cinema Club. The club presents screenings of rooftop movies showing classic Halloween films and extends through October 31. Bring your friends and get your popcorn while watching classics like When Harry Met Sally, The Addams Family, Hocus Pocus and many more.

Now, last but not least, Governors Island will host a family-friendly pumpkin patch with 10,000 gourds within its historic Nolan Park. If you are excited to spend time with your family for this special day, then this is the event for you. Halloween in New York City provides activities for everyone to have an amazing and memorable experience.
