Meet Ms. Meyer!

By Kathryn Chang '22

Meet Ms. Meyer! She is new to our ND home, and currently teaches Algebra 2 and AP Calculus. She grew up in Maryland, DC and attended The University of Notre Dame as an undergraduate. Although she originally wanted to pursue chemistry, she graduated with a BS in mathematics. She then moved to New York City for her master’s in secondary education in mathematics at New York University.

One of her favorite pastimes is reading, particularly crime novels that involve

elements of psychology. For example, one of her favorite books is The Silent Patient. Her other hobbies include watching TV, going to the gym, hiking, cooking, and traveling.

Her comfort meal is a medium steak with mashed potatoes. Growing up, her favorite “strange” food combination was peanut butter and Cheez-its. Considering we eat those cheese and peanut butter sandwich crackers from the vending machine all the time, that combination doesn’t sound all that strange. Additionally, her favorite pasta dish is Penne alla Vodka... or Cacio e Pepe. I wouldn’t be able to choose either!

Some fun facts about Ms. Meyer: she is pro-skinny jeans and pro-side part. Her favorite season is autumn, mostly because of how cozy it is. Like most people who are in love with the fall season, she enjoys watching the leaves change color, and a night in with a movie is the perfect Friday night plan!

Ms. Meyer finds joy in de-stressing and being intentional about how we approach self-care. Unwinding activities such as getting her nails done and reading are crucial in her

process of relaxation. On a daily basis, surrounding herself with loved ones brings her the most joy. In those friendships and relationships, she values honesty, trust, and communication.

If there was one thing she could tell her younger self, it would be this: “Stop worrying so much.” And as I always say, everything serves as a purpose in your journey to become, or to unbecome. I’m so happy Ms. Meyer has enjoyed her time here thus far--ND, let’s keep welcoming her to Chez Nous!
