Following their success in the 2024 season, ND’s Varsity Soccer team ventured to the campus of Canisius University in Buffalo, New York for the GCHSAA soccer championship for Tier 2 just a few weeks ago. They had an extremely impressive season this year as an undefeated team. The incredible discipline and talent of these players was evident in their performances throughout each game. Amazingly, the Dragons won their championship game against Mount Saint Mary Academy from Kenmore, New York with a final score of 5-0.
This game was indeed special for the many players and fans. Maren De La Torre ‘26, Varsity soccer player, plays left defense for the team. She described how rewarding the
experience really was after the dedication and hard work that the team put in all season. She particularly enjoyed the fact that her family from Denver and Kansas City were able to watch the game as it was broadcasted through a digital link. When thinking back to their victory, Maren recalled that “it was such a fun experience running onto the field after the buzzer rang, we were all jumping up and down and we got to run across the field to our fans, which was awesome.”
We are incredibly proud of our players and coaches and appreciate everyone who supported them throughout the season. This season coming to a close means that other ND sports teams will begin playing shortly. Let’s support our Dragons in every way we can; their dedication is what sports are all about.
