Imagine trekking through the Amazon, snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef, or exploring the cities of Europe. Imagine feeling the sun on your face as you spot elephants on the African savannah, stargazing in the Grand Canyon, seeing a Santorini sunset, or skiing in the mountains of Aspen, Colorado. These are just a few of the endless joys travel can bring. In my opinion, travel is one of the greatest things we can do to make life fulfilling.
Here are four reasons why we should travel:
Experiencing differences:
When we travel, we can experience a new language, new people, new sights, new climate,
and new culture. Immersion in differences can give us a fresh perspective on the world, and to expand our knowledge. We can also celebrate diversity in all of its beauty. It's not every day someone can experience the hot Sahara Desert or dance to jazz and learn French phrases in New Orleans.
Making memories through experiences:
Travel often includes exciting once-in-a lifetime opportunities, like seeing elephants in the wild, swimming with whale sharks, or seeing the Aurora Borealis. We can get out of our comfort zone and try things we’ve never tried before. The sky’s the limit! These
experiences turn into meaningful memories that can be reflected on later in life. A few amazing things to experience around the world are the hot springs and geysers of Yellowstone National Park, the remarkable Cliffs of Moher in Ireland, the famous Eiffel Tower in Paris, the clear blue waters of Aruba, the magical theme parks in Florida, the Great Wall of China, the ancient Roman Colosseum, and more countless destinations.
Escape:
Many people travel to escape the daily stress of work, school, and social obligations.
We can take life at a different pace, and not worry about deadlines. Instead, we focus on what’s around us, whether it’s waves and sand, breathtaking mountains, stunning wildlife, or a bustling city different from our own.
Discovery:
Finally, we can discover more about ourselves and who we are, as well as grow
through global exposure and new experiences. We can discover new places we love. We can absorb as much as possible across the globe and connect with others. Travel is about unwinding, having an adventure, trying new food, bonding with others, and so much more. And to have an adventure, you don’t have to take a ten hour flight. Even just driving somewhere new can lead to wonder and excitement. So get out and experience all the world has to offer!
